Cellular Carriers Inching Toward Mobile Ads
- Mobile Magazine.com Thursday March 29, 2007 5:56 AM PDT - By: Dave White
Industry watchers expect the mobile ad market to explode later this year and embark on an ever-upward trend for years to come. Two main watchdogs see advertising spending in the mobile market perhaps increasing fourfold in the next three years—all despite the reticence of the major U.S. carriers to embrace the idea.

NEW YORK (Reuters) Thu Mar 29, 2007 1:13pm ET
Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. will launch its backseat television service exclusively in several DaimlerChrysler cars and minivans later this year, the companies said on Thursday. Sirius, which plans to acquire rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. in a deal that must first pass regulatory muster, said three live child-themed TV channels would be available in 2008 model year cars in the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge lines. Sales of those cars will start later this year.

Why the BlackBerry Pearl is the smart phone of the future
(Computerworld) -- Like today's best smart phones, the pocket communication gadget of the future will be an "everything device." At a minimum, it will function as a laptop, digital camera, video-capable media player, voice recorder, handheld, speakerphone and more. But unlike today's bulky, boxy, bloated Treos, BlackBerries and Windows Mobile smart phones, future offerings will be as tiny, thin, light and sleek as the smallest of today's not-so-smart phones. Tomorrow's smart phones will be more like a Hershey bar and less like a grilled-cheese sandwich. Don't look now, but the smart phone of the future has arrived. RIM's BlackBerry 8100, the Pearl, is the first of a radical new generation of smart phones.

Microsoft to sue 'cybersquatters'
BLOOMBERG NEWS | March 12, 2007 9:02 p.m. PT
Microsoft Corp. said it plans to file a new round of lawsuits in the U.S. and Britain this week against people it says are profiting from registering Internet domain names that contain the company's trademarked terms. Called "cybersquatters" or "typosquatters," the targets of Microsoft's lawsuits use Web addresses containing terms such as Xbox or Microsoft, or slight misspellings of those words, to lure consumers to Web sites loaded with clickable advertisements. The Web-site operators profit when consumers click on an ad. Microsoft said last year that an average of 2,000 domain names containing Microsoft's trademarked terms are registered each day...

Move over Excel!
Have you visited Google Docs & Spreadsheet?
"If you've ever struggled to keep track of different versions of spreadsheet or word processor files sent over email, Google Docs & Spreadsheets may be right for you. Google Docs & Spreadsheets is a free web-based word processing and spreadsheet program that keeps documents current and lets the people you choose update files from their own computers. You can, for example, coordinate your student group's homework assignments, access your family to-do list from work or home, or collaborate with remote colleagues on a new business plan."
The PDF has exploded with new capabilities via the free Adobe Reader 8 upgrade. You can now save your input and review and mark up documents, whereas it was formerly only possible to type responses and print a document without saving your input. And there's more!

With Adobe Reader 8 you can view videos within PDF documents, rotate 3D images, hold online meetings, and create PDF files online for $9.99 per month, via Adobe's new application service. And much more.

PDF forms created in Adobe Acrobat 8 can export data to Excel and other programs, making it simple to organize a spreadsheet of data or responses, enabling you to analyze input and make informed judgments, export to Mail Merge, more.

The new PDF options seem endless. Comment on the returned files and spark even more input and ideas. Click to get the free Adobe Reader 8.

FastZone is under renovation! After being online for more than a decade, FastZone finally got its own logo, designed by Anne Yeiser.

Previously a typeface served to relate an image. FastZone.com is in the process of becoming a php-based website where clients will be able to login to upload or download files, and visitors will have access to free marketing tools, resources, headlines, and may comment on certain articles. The renovation will be completed in May 2007.

Day Communications thanks Derby City Litho for the customer seminar held Mar 21 on Adobe Acrobat 8.
